  • KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM AT JOYLAND PRESCHOOL
    Kindergarten Program
This program organizes developmentally appropriate activities into units and themes designed to accomplish readiness for kindergarten as well as further strengthen the children's confidence and self-esteem. The luxury of five days affords the teacher the opportunity to more fully explore each unit with the children.

Teachers encourage readiness to learn and question, utilization of the children's developing sense of responsibility, and their abilities for imaginative play, dramatic play, construction, and simple games. This program offers a "kinder, gentler" approach for children who need an extra year to grow before entering a full day kindergarten.
    Language Arts: Phonics and Reading
Children begin by learning the sounds of the vowels and consonants and progress to reading words.

    Language Arts: Writing
Children learn to write each of the small letters of the alphabet first. Later, most of the major capital letters are introduce and students are able to write sentences.

    Language Development
Interesting material about animals, people, and places make this a very enjoyable time for the children.

    Numbers
The recognition and understanding of the concepts of numbers.

    Activity Time
This time involves activities such as telling time, music, poetry, finger plays, drama, nursery rhymes, and art.
